On the Non-Abelian Stokes Theorem
We present the non-Abelian Stokes theorem for the Wilson loop in various forms and discuss its meaning. Its validity has been recently questioned by Faber, Ivanov, Troitskaya and Zach. We demonstrate that all points of their criticism are based on mistakes in mathematics. Finally, we derive a variant of our formula for the Wilson loop in lattice regularization.
متن کاملNon-Abelian Stokes Theorem and Computation of Wilson Loop
It is shown that the application of the non-Abelian Stokes theorem to the computation of the operators constructed with Wilson loop will lead to ambiguity, if the gauge field under consideration is a non-trivial one. This point is illustrated by the specific examples of the computation of a non-local operator. The non-Abelian Stokes theorem is widely applied to compute Wilson loop (closed nonAb...
متن کاملNon-abelian Stokes Theorem and Quark Confinement in Qcd
To understand the Abelian dominance and magnetic monopole dominance in lowenergy QCD, we rewrite the non-Abelian Wilson loop into the form which is written in terms of its Abelian components or the ’t Hooft-Polyakov tensor describing the magnetic monopole. This is peformed by making use of a version of non-Abelian Stokes theorem. We propose a modified version of the maximal Abelian (MA) gauge. ...
متن کاملOn the non-Abelian Stokes theorem in SU(2) gluodynamics
Nowadays, there are quite a few formulations of non-Abelian Stokes theorem (NAST) available (for review see, e.g., Ref. [1] and references therein). Generically there exist two principal approaches, the operator [2] and the pathintegral [3] one. We consider a new version of non-Abelian Stokes theorem [4] for SU(2) valued Wilson loops in the fundamental representation. The basic idea is to intro...
متن کاملBreit-Wigner formalism for non-Abelian theories
The consistent description of resonant transition amplitudes within the framework of perturbative field theories necessitates the definition and resummation of off-shell Green’s functions, which must respect several crucial physical requirements. In particular, the generalization of the usual Breit-Wigner formalism in a non-Abelian context constitutes a highly non-trivial problem, related to th...
